Art We Heart: Issue 1

Legacies are long lasting, and if we’re lucky, those generations before us leave us with a rich heritage of valuable wisdom and inspiring perspectives on the true treasures of life. My love of art can most definitely be traced back to my parents. At a young age, I recognized that my parents appreciated both the beauty and the power of art.

I still find it quite transcending that the creative expression and imagination of mere mortals could quite arguably be both the best representation and the best teacher of humanity. The social and epistemic importance of art equally rivals its ability to generate joy, meaning, and understanding in our world. Art is a living, communicative body that has the ability to challenge preconceived ideas and prejudice, stir emotions we’re unable to articulate with words, and open minds to new ideas.

Art is one of my absolute favorite items to collect, and I believe art should be attainable for all, not just the wealthy and affluent. Thankfully, I have several friends who are insanely talented and offer art that is affordable for all. One of our goals of our website is to help shine a light on other artists. So, we plan on regularly sharing some art you need to put in your cart. For this first edition of The Heart Wants Art, we have four lovely ladies for you…

Stephanie Baron

“My artwork is an expression of the different women I’ve been over the course of life — and the women I will heal into in the future. I draw and paint because it allows me to reminisce, and also give myself grace…I guess art, for me, is relief and permission to grow.”

Mariana Silveira

“My sculpture collection is called The Wild Woman. And it is an homage of sorts, to the feminine archetypes in Jungian psychology in general and to the book ‘Women Who Run with the Wolves’, by Jungian scholar doctor Clarissa Pinkola Estés, in particular. ‘Loba’, which means female wolf in Spanish and is one of my most popular pieces, is a direct reference to the book.”

Pamela Bates

“I am recreating her life one painting at a time. I want everyone to experience the radical joy and transformative power of art.”

Claire Tanner

“I have carried the titles of wife, mother, daughter, friend, survivor and many more. But, the title of artist has a special place in my heart. It’s one I decided to give myself. It became a catalyst for me to grow in all my other roles while taking care of my heart at the same. Art is the expression of all the beautiful parts of my life.”
